Northwest Biosolids Management Association 2008 Annual Conference
The 21st Annual Northwest Biosolids Management Association Conference - Biosolids Pride & Prejudice - will be held on September 7-9, 2008 at the Skamania Lodge in Stevenson, WA. The lodge is located in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, approximately 45 miles east of Portland, OR. The theme of the conference, Biosolids Pride and Prejudice, highlights the pride we have in the vital work we do (treating wastewater and recycling treated resources back into the water and soil) and the prejudice we sometimes face with respect to public perception. Pacific Southwest Organic Residuals Symposium
The third Pacific Southwest Organic Residuals Symposium, held at U.C. Davis on October 1 - 2, 2008, will focus on net environmental benefits of various options for use of biosolids, manures, food wastes, and other organic residuals, and focus on how to coordinate activities of the multiple regulatory agencies involved with these, and look at new technologies and their financing strategies. There will be a special session on triclosan and triclocarban, coordinated by NIEHS, with the most recent peer-reviewed research on their presence in biosolids, as well as data on human exposure and health effects, followed by panel discussions with representatives from regulatory agencies, state legislative advisors, POTWs, industry, and consumer advocacy groups. WEF 2009 Residuals and Biosolids Call for Abstracts
The 2009 WEF Residuals and Biosolids Specialty Conference will be held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, OR from May 3-6, 2009. The conference hotel is the Doubletree Hotel at the Lloyd Center. The theme of the conference will be Sustainable Biosolids Management. The Call for Abstracts is now available. Please submit your abstract online by following the links on the Call for Abstracts page of the Conference website. The Deadline for Abstract submittal is July 28, 2008.
The Water Environment Federations Residuals and Biosolids Committee in cooperation with the NW Biosolids Management Association, the Pacific NW Clean Water Association, and the Oregon Association of Clean Water Agencies is sponsoring a specialty conference on residuals and biosolids management. This conference is the 23rd annual WEF specialty conference on this subject. The conference will focus on processing and management of biosolids.
